About Me
For over 45 years I have been able to help parents, teachers and kids understand how to maximize success, and how to reduce the stress that often accompanies teaching and learning. I’m glad your search has brought you to my website. If you have questions that are not addressed on these pages, please send me an email and I will respond to you as soon as possible.

I began my professional career as a classroom teacher of children and adolescents with special needs in Ohio and subsequently in Belmont, Massachusetts. While working on my Ph.D., I was on the faculty of Boston College. Migrating back to my native Dayton, Ohio, I taught at Wright State University and served as the Director of the Learning Disabilities Clinic at Children’s Hospital. My professional journey took me back to Boston to complete a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at Tufts Medical Center, and then joined the faculty at Lesley University, ultimately serving as the Director of the Undergraduate Education Program and the Learning Lab @ Lesley, an Assessment and Tutoring Clinic. I then established my private pediatric neuropsychological practice in Wellesley, MA. I am currently on the faculty of the Harvard Medical School, where I supervise early career psychologists and psychiatrists.
I take great pride in serving as one of the content experts on Understood.org, where for nearly a decade, I have written articles and responded to questions from parents of children with learning and thinking differences. I also serve on the SpedEx Consultation Project, funded by the Massachusetts Department of Education. This is a free service that helps parents and schools find common ground regarding the education of children with special needs.
